Personality: Time has done much to change Thor. There is still an impulsive, aggressive, violent streak inside him - an intrinsic part of his nature which neither time nor desire can change.
But much of it has been buried beneath apathy and disinterest. The world now was nothing like what it used to be, and while he still held a firm belief in his dying pantheon and knew that the world was going to end the way they had been foretelling it, with Ragnarok, the Norse staying in the shadows has Thor staying on the fringes as well, for the most part remaining unnoticed while he went about his life.
He's aged a little and the hair and beard he is known for is mostly gone - he has seen the other older pantheons struggle with the common issues they all faced, and to be someone else was easier than trying to be someone he wasn't capable of being anymore. He would rather appreciate what he can now than live in a past that was so far away now that it sometimes felt like a mere fantasy.
It was probably better this way. To be reminded of himself is to be reminded of everything that was wrong with the world they lived in now. Now, he is only a shell of his former self - while he retained most of who he is, time had a way of wearing everyone down and stripping the enthusiasm, energy and ambition away.
History: Thor, god of thunder, was one of the most widely worshipped Norse gods back in the day despite his temper and volatility, and even today he lives on, his name loaned to Thursday, Dustin, Thurston, thunder and so on. Stories of Thor included the time when his hammer had been stolen by Thrym, King of Thurse, and he masqueraded as Freyja in order to retrieve it, of when he had been repeatedly outwitted and defeated by the giant Utgarda-Loki (though he had learned from the experience) and of when he stopped his daughter's marriage to Alviss the dwarf, who was turned to stone in sunlight.
There was another tale of Loki being captured by Geirrod and told to lure Thor into a trap by bringing him to Geirrod's castle. Upon finding out, Thor acquired the well-known belt and iron gloves, equipment attributed to him (along with the hammer mjollnir), and defeated the frost giants.
Thor is Odin and Jord's son, and has a wife, Sif. He also loved Jarnsaxa, a giant, and both his wife and lover bore him children.
Thor's fate is to die from Jormungandr's poison during Ragnarok. However, that time has yet to come - Thor had arrived in America in the 20th Century. His association with the Roman god Jupiter as well as archaeological findings pertaining to him and the Norse pantheon, and even what may seem superficial such as the usage of mjollnir in pendants, safety charms and logos or mjollnir's association with the swastika has done much to loan Thor a secure existence.
What he has chosen to do with his existence is of course up to him, and while the answer to that is 'not much', the time will come for him to move and act - and he will go along with it.
For now though, it's kicking back and relaxing in his residence in a Manhattan townhouse. Just because he is swooping under the radar in terms of the immortal realm doesn't mean he has to live a miserable existence out in the middle of nowhere.
